Greetings! I am Brittany Kelly, recent graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education. Most of you may be familiar with me from the things I’ve accomplished through my time at UF. If not, by the end of this message, I hope you get a glimpse of who I am.
God has blessed me to create a legacy that has positively impacted the lives of more than just myself. From being an official student ambassador of the University of Florida through the Florida Cicerones; becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated., through the illustrious Iota Lambda Chapter; joining SISTUHS Incorporated, volunteering and becoming an intern at UF Health/Shands hospital; conducting minority health research through the Ronald E. McNair Research Scholars program; to being inducted into the 2016 University of Florida Hall of Fame; I am so thankful for the opportunities and experiences I have gained.
However, this meaningful chapter has come to a close and I’m faced with a new set of challenges as I reach a pivotal point in my life. As you can see, I have worked hard, day in and day out, to make myself the most competitive applicant for nursing school. I applied to some of the top programs in the nation knowing my worth as a student, what I could offer to each nursing program, and how each program could propel me into the field of nursing. I was accepted into the University of Florida’s Accelerated Nursing Program, Johns Hopkins Direct-Entry into Nursing Master’s Program, and Duke University’s Accelerated Nursing Program.
I am pleased to announced that with much deliberation I chose to attend Duke University’s Accelerated Nursing Program. After making this decision, I discovered choosing a school was the least of my concerns. The transition from undergrad to professional schooling is financially taxing especially when factoring in the move from Gainesville, Florida to Durham, North Carolina.
Friends, not only am I humbly asking for your social support but your financial support as I take my next big step towards my future. I am seeking financial support in the following areas: traveling expenses, relocation, costs to complete my last pre-requisite coursework, health screenings, health-related certifications, uniforms, and books. All of which need to be covered before I move to Durham, NC on August 3rd, 2016.
I am hoping that with every donation, you understand how thankful my family and I are for your support. I would have never gotten this far without people who believed in me, sometimes, even more than I believed in myself. I truly value the time and effort invested from those around me to make me who I am today. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, regarding anything or wish to give me advice, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion. -Ref. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Much love and appreciation, Brittany A. Kelly.
