Sharing Body Positivity for BDD Foundation
Along with a group of very brave friends, we are producing a 'Calendar Girls' inspired 2021 calendar of our activities during Lockdown,
We are a mixed group of individuals aged from 23- 75, men and women , all shapes and sizes, all dealing with our own demons, health and mental health issues. We have all stepped outside our comfort zone and found joy , liberation and empowerment through first taking our photos, and then sharing them, initially amongst our small group and, shortly, with you all. Some of us have survived potentially life threatening and life changing illnesses (both physical and mental) many of us have battled with body image issues, some of us have written obout our challenges. All of us want to help better peoples mental wellbeing and promote body positivity. Hence we have chosen BDD Foundation as the beneficiary of our self development and acheivement.
You can make any size donation. Every £1 is gratefully received. However, for every £10 you donate we will reserve you one calendar ( simply then add a message saying you would like a calendar and I will compile a database and on printing will ask you to supply a postal address and pay the postage fee, directly to me via paypal)
The image on this page is the one from which the idea was born. May 2nd was World Naked Gardening Day, I love the Hilda paintings by Duane Bryers and, like everyone I was (am) in lockdown. I've never liked my body, I'm scarred all over from various incidents, accidents and self harm. I'm 53, 2 stone heavier than before children, saggy boobs from breast feeding, saggy everythings from gravity and time! 20 years ago I would have never left the house or invited anyone in without full makeup.
Yet here I am.. Just one of 24 very different journeys, learning to love myself, seeing my body as a miracle for surviving its journey so far.
To read more about the real trials of living with BDD please take a look at the chartity website. To help us celebrate our collective acheivement of overcoming our own fears , and help BDD sufferers overcome theirs, please donate and buy our calendar... your £10 donation will be a preorder. We will keep you informed of the time line for printing and receiving your calendar, via this page .
If you would like to support us but do not want a calendar or want to donate less , we would still be extremely grateful. Every £1 helps .
Many thanks
