Friends and Family-
Austin Schroder, a former student of mine was injured in a terrible anhydrous ammonia accident on his family farm on April 28, 2021. He was pulling 2 tanks of anhydrous and the back hitch broke- making the connection hose break away. That hose broke through the back window of the tractor, spraying him with the anhydrous ammonia. He was luckily enough to put the tractor in neutral and jump out, causing crush fractures at T5, T6, T8, & T9.
He has chemical burns over a major part of his body and has received cadaver skin grafts. The doctors at Swedish have him in a back brace to stabilize his fractures. He will need several more skin grafts and the doctors are still watching his airway for chemical burns.
Austin is a father of three young children who are 6 1/2 hours away at at home with friends. Austin’s loyal wife Bailey and other family have stayed at a hotel to be near Austin.
Unfortunately for Austin’s lovely wife, her grandmother passed after a long battle with cancer on May 2nd. This poor woman!
Austin is fighting with all he has, but the bills will be well beyond what his family will be able to endure. Anything you can donate to his family would be greatly appreciated!
