Rent for Abraham
Donation protected
Abraham and his family are immigrants who fled their home in Honduras to seek asylum in the U.S. after being terrorized by gangs and police. He lives with three of his children and three grandchildren in a one-bedroom apartment in Washington, D.C. He and his daughter are back working at a local market, but their hours have been cut back due to the pandemic. They are not earning enough to make $1,800 rent due each month.
The organizers of this fundraiser, Margot Friedman and Amy Cotton, have known Abraham and his family for two years. They are all very hardworking. They would put in more hours if they could. The thought of not being able to make rent in September or October is very anxiety-producing for them.
Margot is the co-organizer of this campaign and is authorized to accept funds on Abraham's behalf. As a volunteer and friend of the family, Margot has set up a separate bank account for this purpose. She will make payments to Abraham from that account.
