Help with Audrey's Surgery
This is Audrey. I adopted Audrey from the Humane Society of Central Illinois in Normal, IL in late 2010. I had been wanting to adopt a cat for some time so I visited their cats up for adoption and that is when she found me. I sat down and she immediately jumped up on my lap. I had a feeling she was the one and that feeling was cemented as I saw her scratching at the window glass of the door as I was leaving. No more than a week later she was adopted.
Audrey is a female domestic long hair with calico coloration. She has a clipped ear meaning she was feral as a kitten. Audrey is larger than the average cat at about 13-14 lbs and extremely strong and athletic.
She is also the biggest ham in the world when it comes to meeting new people. Audrey never is one to shy away and wants to be the center of attention.
Unfortunately Audrey right now is not the athletic 13-14 lb cat anymore. About a month and a half ago I started to notice she was sleeping a lot more than usual. She had also stopped eating near the same amount and using her litter box. We took her to a local vet and they suspected hyperthyroidism. Medication helped improve her mood somewhat but she was still dropping weight. After taking her back for a followup appointment she had lost another pound in only a week. Audrey is now only 9 lbs. It was then they noticed the large tumor on her liver. We were referred to a specialist which is where she is right now as I am typing this on 8/1/2018. After two visits and ultrasounds and CT scans there is hope the tumor can be removed with surgery.
Unfortunately surgery is extremely expensive. I am just starting a new job in my life and my family and loving girlfriend are helping me out as much as possible. If you are able to donate even a dollar to help us out with Audrey I would be grateful and write everyone a letter/email with updates/pictures of Audreys progress.
All money collected will be going towards her medical bills related to surgery and overnight stays/care.
Lets all give Audrey some hope as she starts her battle!
