Please Help Charlie Move to Cali
Charlie Luallen is a great guy, good father, and one of the Atlanta rock scene's longest supporters. For over four decades you could count on seeing him at pretty much every great show in town, down front loving every note, Heineken in hand. When the band split, you'd be just as likely to see him heading for the door with a huge pile of swag, tshirts, and albums... at a glance, you knew this was a gent that believed in showing his support for people that gave him joy.
In the summer of 2012, Charlie lost his job of 17 years managing a multimillion dollar country club's maintenence and facilities programs. Like so many other American's, downsizing hit home in a very serious way for him. Over two years later, he still has not been able to find steady work, and his savings and his severance package have long dwindled. Just taking care of his basic needs have become a major struggle, and would not have been possible without the support of his small family in California.
Charlie is a private person. "Going public" with this story has been very hard for him, but there has been a huge groundswell of love and support, that has meant the world to him. In all the messages, several people have suggested launching a campaign like this, and well, here it is.
Charlie has given support, friendship, and love to the Atlanta rock community for over 40 years. This is your opportunity to give a bit back. All donations will go directly to help fund Charlie and his move to California to start a new life.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! Many of us have said how much we'd love to help support Charlie get back on his feet in Atlanta, and there's still a chance to do that too. If this fund can build high enough, it could easily buy Charlie a few months to continue looking for work. Perhaps some of you good people that may not be able to donate money, may even be able to donate some time or networking, and help point him in the right direction to a solid job.
Either way, know that these funds will benefit a kind and generous man who has given us all so many smiles over the years.
