Atitlan Music School 2015 Guatemala

The Atitlan Music School, located in Panajachel, Solola, Guatemala, has been teaching music to local children and adults since 2012, using private donations to fund this work. In 2015, we incorporated as a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible charity organization registered in Texas.

We employ local professional musicians to give individual lessons on piano, drums, guitar, saxophone, voice, and more—providing basic music instruction for people who otherwise could not afford it. Our teachers are graduates or students of their countries’ music conservatories. We’re also attracting Spanish-speaking volunteers from First World countries. Currently we average about 25 private lessons per week, and we conduct weekly ensemble sessions for our more advanced students.

Now that we’ve attained what feels like a critical mass, we want to expand our reach. We want to provide more scholarships and establish a satellite school in another community.

This Go Fund Me campaign will help us achieve that goal. We spend every cent of every dollar we raise on school operations—not to pay our board members or to support other fundraising.

Your support will help us spread the gift of music to those who might not otherwise have such an opportunity. Thank you!
