Jess is a 36 year old queer single mother and artist with a lengthy history of chronic illness and pain.
It has recently been discovered that Jess has experienced a series of micro bleeds in her brain and that she has likely suffered a mini stroke.
Doctors have also given Jess a preliminary diagnosis of Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a group of inherited disorders that affect connective tissues - primarily skin, joints and blood vessel walls.
Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a form of EDS which can cause the walls of blood vessels, intestines, or the uterus to rupture.
80% of people with this disease experience a life threatening medical event before the age of 40.
In addition, Jess has Degenerative Facet Joint Disease, Fibromyalgia, a bleeding disorder and resulting Anemia, PTSD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Jess is a determined, loving, and wickedly smart creator who works tirelessly to give her child a fantastic life.
She is no stranger to late night hospital visits followed by early morning rises; and she's skilled in balancing family, work, and health.
With this said, it is medically necessary that Jess takes it easy over the coming months and gets ample rest.
Anyone who has navigated a health crisis is aware of the ways in which associated expenses can mount, be they related to appointment transportation, supplies and equipment, child care, or specialized dietary needs.
For Jess, this new financial strain has compounded that already created by the pandemic and left her struggling to make ends meet. Jess is not eligible for CERB and she and her daughter are existing on well under that which the CERB provides monthly.
As she waits for her ODSP application to be processed, her bills and back rent are beginning to loom. Jess is an industrious fighter, but, as many of us know, financial pressure begins to feel all-consuming as this kind of cumulative debt grows insurmountable.
This is precisely the kind of stress that Jess must avoid given her current health status.
Our campaign is aimed at affording Jess and her daughter the financial security and stability they need so that Jess may focus on her health and strategize a sustainable approach to managing her new diagnoses.
Please contribute and share this campaign widely!
We are so grateful for your generosity!
Every bit helps!
