Freed But Need Help To Rebuild

Donation protected

On July 2, 2020, Ashley Debelbot was bonded out of the Muscogee County jail. Later that afternoon, she walked out that jail the same innocent woman who entered it 12 years prior. Ashley has won
back the freedom she never should’ve lost, and
now she needs our help.

From life’s necessities to larger items, Ashley
deserves our help getting back on her feet
. This
GoFundMe page will help Ashley with everything
from clothings and groceries to major living
expenses. Having gone away in 2008 and now
reentering the world in 2020, Ashley has a lot to
catch up on.

We can promise you that your contribution will
make a major impact for a wonderful woman
whose radiant positivity is a model example to us
all.

For those who aren’t familiar with Ashley’s case. Back in 2008 Ashley and her husband Albert
Debelbot were arrested and later sentenced to life in prison without parole for supposedly
murdering their 3 day old child. McKenzie was born May 29, 2008 at 4pm at Martin Army
Hospital, and discharged at 1pm May 31, 2008. Sometime after midnight, 13 hours after
discharge Ashley and Albert woke up to feed baby McKenzie when they noticed she had a lump
on her head. They rushed her back to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 3:55am.

Ashley and Albert fought for 12 years trying to get an appeal when finally their prayers were
answered and the Wisconsin Innocence project got the new evidence needed to request an
appeal.  The appeal was denied at the state level so the Supreme Courts got involved and finally
the Debelbot’s sentenced was overturned.  Defense attorneys maintain the Debelbot’s didn’t
receive a fair trial, and that McKenzie’s death could have resulted from a problematic pregnancy and delivery.  Autopsy images show that baby McKenzie had a grossly abnormal skull and brain.  Medical Experts have stated after reviewing the records that baby McKenzie was born with
brain and skull abnormalities that could have led to her death.
