Dearest friends of the Martin family,
Many of us continue to ask how we can best support Adam and his family during his battle with cancer. The love, generosity, and encouragement already shown have been truly overwhelming, and the family is deeply grateful.
As Adam recovers from his bone marrow transplant, he and his caregivers will need to stay within 20 minutes of NIH in Bethesda for at least 100 days after being released in late December . Securing safe and comfortable housing for that length of time comes with significant cost, and easing this burden will allow the family to focus entirely on Adam’s recovery.
If you feel moved to help with these mounting expenses—or if you’d simply like to pass this along privately to friends or family who have asked how they can support—please click the share button, copy the link, and send it through text, private message, or email.

Today Adam held his new bone marrow as the hospital Chaplain lead us in prayer. After praying the Lord’s Prayer together, we received Communion, and the transplant of new cells, new life began. As Adam’s nurse shone a light, we could see the actual stem cells in the infusion line flowing like tiny grains of sand…just so amazing. His lead doctor wished Adam a new Happy Birthday which brought more tears as she joined us in singing. About 45 minutes into the transplant, Adam had an unwanted reaction causing severe pain and shaking with chills. His team was right on it, and after the right medications, his body settled down and the infusion was finally complete. As his new cells graft, we can expect some rough patches over the next few weeks. He’ll be here at NIH for another 4 to 6 weeks. Our family is blessed and appreciates all your love, inspiring words, and most of all, your continued prayers as God strengthens and heals Adam.

Today was a heroic day with Jake donating his bone marrow for Adam’s transplant tomorrow. It was a day filled with emotions of love, gratitude and long awaited relief. Seeing Jake’s stem cells being collected and processed to save Adam was overwhelming. Jake has such a beautiful heart, and he is so humble. Jake may not realize the magnitude of his life saving gift, but Adam and our family are forever grateful. Thank you, Jake.
*update from Angela on November 16th:
Adam is now at NIH in Bethesda, MD preparing for a bone marrow/stem cell transplant on November 20th. His cousin, Jake, and Eddie as a back up, will be there to donate marrow and new stem cells. Ben, of course, is a 100% match, but with Adam’s lymphoma being so rare, he needs less of a match, but also with family DNA as well. We are so grateful and blessed that Jake and Eddie have the match Adam needs for his transplant. Between his long 4 months in the hospital at MUSC and admission on 11/4 to NIH, Adam spent time with family and friends just enjoying life. Nick and Dawn are the best hosts and their beautiful home is like a serenity retreat. Please enjoy this video of Adam’s Journey so far. Thank you for all your prayers that have helped him get strong enough for the transplant. He’s facing some crucial days ahead, and your prayers are still very much needed. Our family has witnessed the power of your prayers with little miracles every day. Your continued prayers are definitely appreciated.

Adam is responding well to his first chemotherapy cycle. As soon as he’s strong enough, he’ll have a second round of chemo. We’re bringing him home, so he can build up his strength and put some weight back on. After Adam gets stronger in the next ten days, he’ll return to hospital for treatment. Your prayers are working. Adam and our whole family appreciate all the love and support from everyone.

Adam has been fighting a hard battle since April. He was hospitalized June 1st with a misdiagnosis of an autoimmune disease. After a lot of research and 60 plus days in the hospital, Adam was diagnosed with a very aggressive and rare lymphoma called NK/T-Cell EBV Lymphoma. He was transferred Wednesday to a medical facility with an oncology department. 55 pounds lighter and very weak, he had his first round of chemotherapy yesterday and his second today along with a blood transfusion. He’ll have a third treatment tomorrow. This is a critical time for Adam, and he’s fighting the battle of his life. His spirit and faith are so strong, and he’s endured this whole illness with such grace and strength. We are so appreciatative that Adam is armored with everyone’s prayers and love. His armor will protect him. God will shield and carry him through this most difficult battle. #ArmorForAdam
