Ariana is a hard working student that wants to spend 3 weeks of this summer at Duke TiP's Summer Studies Program in China:
Hello, I am Ariana, currently in 8th grade. I was just invited to apply to attend summer studies in China this year, which is amazing! Even with the possibility of some financial aid, my airfare to China, application fee and partial program fees will be my responsibility. Goal adjustments (+ or -) will be made as soon as I know the actual out of pocket cost.
Here is a recent, brief summary about myself:
Maintaining a 4.0 GPA, while being enrolled in a rigorous course load is very important to me because I am expecting to begin the IB (International Baccalaureate) program in the fall.
I am passionate about learning, self driven and always up for a good challenge. To satisfy my constant desire to learn more than the standard, I enrolled in three extra high school courses this semester through the Florida Virtual program. I will have earned five extra high school credits by the time I leave middle school (in addition to the credits for core classes taken).
Aside from my academic achievements, I volunteer in and around my community, am involved in a multitude of extra-curricular activities and clubs (many by invitation only, based on my grades) and am also on my school Volleyball team for the past 3 years.
For the past three summers, I have had the honor of being invited and selected to attend Duke TiP's Summer Studies. This gives me a look into different types of careers so I find which suits me best. I am interested in pursuing a career in either the Medical field or Engineering.
I promise to continue to stay out of trouble and maintain my grades. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I will follow up with pictures of China.
The picture below (in the Duke Tip Summer Studies Catalog) for this year is me! This was taken last summer at Rollins College in Orlando.
Thank you for reading! Ariana
