Gone From Our Side -- Skretting USA's Tribute to the Arellano Family

On the afternoon of June 1, 2016 we lost two of our beloved co-workers. Not only were they our teammates, they were also our friends.

Armando Arellano, 52, who had worked for Skretting USA for 25 years, was traveling to Salt Lake City when the white pick-up he was in got a flat tire.

When his brother, Abel, 49, heard of the breakdown, he hopped in his car and drove out to assist... Never to return to the job he had worked at for 28 years.

Abel spotted where Armando's truck had pulled off alongside the shoulder of Utah's busy State Route 201. He pulled up behind, hopped out of his vehicle and immediately went to work to help the brother he loved so much.

The two joined forces and gathered the needed tools to replace the flat tire. But as they walked to the back side of the pick-up, another driver on the road, lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the back of Abel's parked car.

The force of the speeding vehicle propelled the parked car forward pinning the men between it and the pick-up.

The brothers were instantly killed. The other driver survived.

The brothers, who grew up side-by-side, worked side-by-side, had left this world side-by-side.

Shock, sadness, and bewilderment filled the air. A veil of grief shrouds the very air at Skretting. The love for these men was and remains tangible.

Armando left behind his wife, 5 children and 6 grandchildren. One of his sons, Jorge, also works for Skretting and our hearts ache for him as he grieves the loss of both his father and uncle.

Jorge said his dad was an incredibly hard worker and "everything a father should be." He said his dad "instilled a great knowledge of responsibility into all of his children."

Abel leaves behind his wife, and 4 living children, one of which has Down syndrome. Abel's daughter Jessica recently passed from a long struggle with Lupus.

Jorge said his uncle "was a lover of life who always had a great smile on his face."

"He was always willing to help solve any problem anyone had," added Jorge.

We want to show these families that we stand by their side.

Money gathered will assist these beautiful families in the aftermath of this tragedy.

We will be grateful for any amounts offered to this fund and know their families will be forever thankful that you stand by their side too.
