My name is Elizabeth and I created this fundraiser to help support my wife Arelis with her medical bills while she undergoes chemotherapy, surgery and radiation.
I know 2020 has changed the life of so many people including ours and this is our story. In March of 2020 we were ready to expand our family, it was always something we both wanted. I love to watch her with my son they have a bond like no other. She is the most sweetest kindest and patient person I ever met and I know one day she will be an amazing mother. We had started all of our medical visit to start the process of IUI but because of the pandemic we had to cancel all her appointments due to risk of catching the virus. Fast forward to June 11 when my wife felt a lump and her left breast, she was immediately scheduled an appointment for the following week. I wont lie and say that we weren't nervous but we remained hopeful and kept our faith strong.
June 29,2020 while my wife was at work she received a call from her doctor telling her that she has Breast Cancer ( Invasive Ductal carcinoma ).
It was such a shocker to everyone being that she's only 28 years old with no family history of cancer in her family. This news was so devastating to us we never expected this kind of news, it took an emotional toll on my wife and our family. After multiple core-biopsy, pet-scan, MRIs and blood work she was diagnosed with Stage 3B. Our oncologist wanted her to start her treatment right away but because my wife doesn't have any kids she had to freeze her eggs first so that in the future she could do IVF.
Her treatment requires 4 rounds of AC, 13 rounds of taxol, surgery and radiation for the next year. This is a very humbling position to be in but and we wouldn't be asking for help if it wasn't necessary. The medical bills are currently piling up, my wife has been out of work since August, her new deductible is right around the corner and I'm providing as much as I can for her and my son. It's my job to protect my family while my wife is going through chemotherapy/healing.
My wife is such an inspirational and positive person. She shares her story and journey with her friends and family to bring awareness that Breast Cancer doesn't discriminate age or gender. She deserves the world and never asks for anything. So with that I ask you all for any type of help towards our family. No amount is too small and everything counts !!!! Even a share will help!
