Let's get physical...in Mardi Gras!
“Let’s get Physical: exercise your rights” brings together themes of fitness, body diversity, social justice, friendship, and humour that are core values of the Aqualicious swim club as well as an understanding, and articulation of GLBTIQ histories and cultural intersections.
Our parade entry “Let’s get Physical: exercise your rights” responds enthusiastically to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) theme of "40 years of Evolution".
Aqualicious and our float entry participants have all been impacted by the life-affirming social and political activism achieved by SGLMG. For many of our participants it will be the first time they have been included in the Parade and for some the first time engagement with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
We all believe strongly that the evolution of our community has been due to the activists in history pre- and post-1978, and that Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has been the significant enabler.
