April was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia with a high-risk mutation. She is currently doing chemo with a plan for a stem cell transplant, which will require another hospitalization. Right now her and Tom are both out of work. Unfortunately, Tom's paid leave runs out in April. April's runs out in July, and given the trajectory of treatment, time off will still be required. Tom will have to be home with their autistic daughter while April is recovering for approximately 3 months or more after transplant. General bills and medical bills continue to come in.
