My Mom, Aprile Boos, has always been a source of strength and comfort for our family. She is a former EMT/ Somerville 911 dispatcher. In November, she came down with what seemed like a bad cold or the flu, but after a short period of feeling better, things took a turn for the worse. She became extremely lethargic, sometimes confused, and her skin turned yellow. It was clear something serious was happening, and she finally agreed to go to the hospital.
Aprile was diagnosed with a severe blood infection (sepsis) and her liver was showing signs of failure. She has now been at Beth Israel for 13 days, much of that time in an induced coma and intubated. Thankfully, she is starting to wake up, but her journey to recovery will be long and challenging. As her only child, I want to do everything I can to support her and make sure she can focus on healing without the added stress of financial worries.
I am starting this fundraiser to help cover sudden medical costs that insurance might not cover, as well as household expenses that have piled up during this crisis. I also hope to get her a new adjustable bed frame and mattress, since her current one is broken and unsafe. Anything that can make her life a little easier during this time is worth it. Thank you so much for your support—it is GREATLY appreciated.
