Apollo is our 13-year-old husky, our sweet angel. We're not ones to ask for money, and honestly, it's the last thing we want to do, but we've reached a point of frustration with Trupanion. We're raising funds for Apollo because he needs urgent care that our insurance keeps refusing to cover. In May 2026, Apollo suffered an injury affecting his front left leg. As he continued not to improve, his primary veterinarian and a board-certified orthopedic specialist both raised concerns about possible nerve or spinal involvement and recommended that he be evaluated by a neurologist and get an MRI.
Since then, we have spent months going back and forth with Trupanion. We appealed, submitted doctors’ letters, and provided the documentation they asked for. Apollo’s doctors stated that he had no pre-existing injury, only mild arthritis in his right elbow, but Trupanion repeatedly denied coverage for the left-leg diagnostics by calling the condition, "limping" pre-existing. We kept hoping the next review would finally take the medical evidence into account, but the testing Apollo needs is still not covered.
What makes this so painful is seeing what Apollo’s daily life looks like now. Mentally, he is still there, but his body is failing him because he is in constant pain. He lies in bed most of the day and can barely get up except to go outside. We have to resort to giving him daily pain medications just to help manage his pain. It breaks our hearts because he is otherwise healthy, and this injury has brought his life to a complete halt.
We are raising money to pay for Apollo’s MRI, neurologist evaluation, possible surgery, and physical therapy ourselves so he can finally get the care he needs. Apollo cannot keep waiting through more denials and more back-and-forth while he suffers.
If you are able to donate or share Apollo’s fundraiser, it would mean so much to our family. Your support will help us move forward with the diagnostics and treatment he needs and give Apollo a real chance at relief.
Any funds left over after Apollo’s treatment and recovery, along with any insurance reimbursements for his care, will be donated to Project K-9 Hero Org
