A Note from mom....
Hello everyone I am a mother of 3 boys and expecting a baby girl. My son Antonio is 6 years old and has been diagnosed with Glioma Brain Cancer. This all began about 2 years ago. He started experiencing symptoms of headaches and several times happen to faint on me. I took him to get medical care where he was falsely diagnosed with a fainting disorder called near syncope. Recently on December 11, 2014 I took my son Antonio to get an MRI. Suddenly, a doctor approach me to inform me they have found a large mass of a tumor in Antonio's brain which started from the back of his head down to his spine. Antonio was immediately hospitalized in Newark Beth Iserel Hospital. On the 17th were were transported to Saint Barnabas in Livingston. On the 18th my baby boy was taken into surgery where a biopsy was done. After his surgery, Antonio began to experience serve neurotic pain whiched began to affect his left side of his body. Later on, We were transported to Children's Specialized Hospital located in New Brunswick on the 23rd . This facility is a rehabilitation center specialized for children. Antonio is currently receiving Physical therapy and occupational therapy to enhance his gross motor skills because they have been affected due to his condition. As his mother this has been weighing so heavy on my heart watching my baby boy go through all of this everyday. 3 weeks later we receive his pathology results which were positive for CANCER. A word no one wants to hear. As we wait on his treatment plan, Antonio is so strong and my strength comes from watching him everyday. I love this boy with every breath in me. I feel so helpless not being able to do anything to help my baby. My son is such a lovable, smart, silly young boy who misses playing and being able to run around with his other siblings. Antonio's situation has also affected my other two boys whom miss me and Antonio at home. Who don't understand why we have to be away for so long. I can't even begin to explain how the holidays weren't filled of peace and joy for us this year. I'm just amazed how strong Antonio is when he's in pain. How eager he is at PT to want to walk but careful not to loose balance. Hard part of it all is; As his mother trying to hide my feelings and not cry infront of my baby boy so I won't worry him. Truthfully I'm emotionally destroyed and I can't wait to see my baby back to himself. I want to kindly thank you all for taking time out to read about our current journey and the bumpy road we have to expect ahead of us. I thank you all for your kind donations.
