WHAT IN THE WORLD IS ANNA MAYNARD DOING NOW?

Good Question!



At the end of this month I am taking a leap of faith into the unknown, putting a pack on my back and joining a group of 16 artists from around the world on a month-long walking pilgrimage across southern Spain. We will walk from the Pyrenees Mountains to the Mediterranean Sea over the course of one full moon cycle, the beginning of an artistic project called “The Moonwalk”.  A trail similar to the “El Camino” but instead of stopping at Hostels each night we will be camping along the way.



The troupe ends its walk with a 2-week creative residency at The Monastery of Dreams (a community based on contact improvisation & creative arts) in Catalonia, Spain. As artists-in-residence, we will gather what has evolved from this walk to create new expressions through art - via dance & movement - to be used in film and on stage.

With camera in hand and through the lenses of documentary photojournalism and dreamlike narration, I plan to capture the stories that emerge from this grand adventure. This is an opportunity to take my craft overseas and dive into a community of creative thinkers that share this unique narrative. I'm excited to explore the process of integrating my passions for movement and photography from the inside out. I will craft & curate a series of images with the viewpoint of the artist's experience. These images will be then produced into a printed art book.

A portion of the funds raised will go directly to the production of this limited-edition book and printing for a gallery of images. All contributors will receive their name in the forward mentions, and with a contribution of $100.00 or more patrons will receive a printed copy for keepsake.
