Surgery Deductible

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

An unexpected opportunity has been placed at our feet. It is an opportunity to help an amazing woman we all know and love get the resources she needs for a challenging surgical procedure. Jeff and I have decided to ask our closest and most dear friends to help our beloved sister and friend, Angie Holm get the financial, emotional, physical, and spiritual support she needs to be well. This decision weights heavily on our hearts, as it is difficult for any of us to ask for help, and I'm not sure how many people she was even planning on telling. As her friend and future sister-in-law, I felt it necessary to share this with everyone who cares about her and her family. I know that you would want to know and if you can, know how to help.

Over the past few weeks, Angie began experiencing numbness and tingling on the right side of her face, then the loss of taste and eventually complete hearing loss in her right ear. Before they could diagnose what they believed to be the cause of her symtoms, the doctors needed her to get an MRI. Her first hurdle. Before they would schedule it, she needed to pay a deductible of $1,200. That is not an easy sum of money to come up with for anyone, let alone a hardworking family like Angie's. Thankfully, her immediate family members were able to get the money for this precious bit of necessary and definiative MRI information.

The results came back Wednesday, May 28th, that she did indeed have a tumor, most likely a benign Vestibular schwannoma. Unexpectedly, the mass is large. Roughly 2cm x 2cm and it grows inside the skull within and behind the ear. It must be surgically removed to prevent the continued growth from causing more serious and/or life threatening consequences. She may have already lost her hearing and facial sensation permanently. The surgery is very tricky as it deals specifically with cells that wrap around the nerves.

Again, she was told that she had to meet a large deductible before they would schedule the surgery. It is about $4,000. Let us help alleviate some of the financial and emotional stresses the Holm's are dealing with so that they can concentrate on Angie's recovery. If you can, please donate financially to this worthy cause. If you cannot, please don't feel bad. Pre & post-operatively, the Holm's and Cobb's will need your prayers, thoughts, kindness, and possibly food (although I'm sure Bamnan will have an ample supply of Thai coursing through the house!)

We are a village of friends and family like no other I've ever seen. I know that together we can show Angie that she is not alone on this journey. She has touched all of our lives in some way or another. We now have this opportunity to show her how much she is loved, supported, cherished, and needed in our lives.

She does not know that we have created this fundraiser site. Pride should not factor into what can and needs to be done. Thank you all. Please call Jeff [phone redacted] or Carissa [phone redacted] for more information.
