Andy Crowley, the Mayor of Awesometown, was a loud ‘n proud husband, father, son, friend, wolf pack howler, advocate, and cancer WARRIOR. Andy never met a stranger, and that is probably why you are here reading this page. Whether you were one of his many friends since childhood, biking, fellow dog lover, Man Up to Cancer, a proud member of the Wolf Pack, or just an admirer of his shoes or frosted tips phase—everyone who knew Andy felt like they were his best friend—what a gift.
As the mayor, Andy made everyone feel welcome, turned strangers into friends, and made sure to tell you to get your butt checked. His quick wit, sarcastic humor, shoes, and generous heart touched countless lives. Unfortunately, the mayor of Awesometown isn’t a paid gig. Many have asked what you can do to help Andy’s wife, Katie, and their two boys, Ander and Elliott, who are still in school.
In his obituary, the family asked that those wishing to honor Andy consider donating to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, and we fully support that meaningful tribute. Many friends, however, wanted another way to honor the man who spent his life giving to others.
Here is how you can support the family:
-this GoFundMe goes directly to the family for any extra costs and towards the boys' education or directly at the funeral
-the CRC Alliance listed on the obituary
-getting a colonoscopy.
If Andy ever made you laugh, helped you through a difficult time, or made your life a little brighter, please consider supporting Katie and the boys during this unimaginable loss. If you're unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser is a wonderful way to help. Oh, and get your butt checked.
Rest easy and fly high, Andy.
For Andy: Less than 15% of people diagnosed with Stage IV Colorectal Cancer make it to five years. Andy fought very loudly for the past six years to remind us to get screened. Andy had over 20 tumors removed, many surgeries, radiation, and medications.
