Everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another. Someone you know has had it, died from it or recovered from it. Some of you are fighting your own battles with the disease at this moment.

My name is Connie Baxley. I am a co-worker of Glenn Raad, but I feel more like a member of his "work family."

Glenn and his wife, Maria, are going through a difficult time as they cope with a devastating medical crisis affecting their son, Andrew.

Andrew, now 23 years old, has been fighting leukemia since he was a child and fought Leukemia for 4 1/2 years, having a relapse in the middle of treatment. He had gone into remission for fifteen years, but now the situation has taken a turn for the worse.

In August of 2021 Doctors removed a tumor in Andrew's brain and he followed that with radiation and chemo pills. On July 5, doctors removed a second tumor from Andrew’s brain. The surgery went well, and things were going OK for a while, but he still was getting headaches, and his legs were a bit wobbly So as a precaution, his parents took Andrew to the hospital to get things checked out.

After administering a few tests, the doctors informed Glenn and Maria that their son’s cancer has spread.

At this time, Andrew needs his parents, family and friends to pull together and offer whatever prayers and wishes of good “juju," etc., they can provide. He is home from Loma Linda Hospital so he can be with his family and be more comfortable.

A meal train has been set up to help the family ensure they are eating to keep up the strength they need to help Andrew.

Andrew is one of the kindest humans you would ever want to meet. When he was little, his parents thought they had this disease beaten and that he could live his life. To have it come back at this time is so frustrating and sad.

I worry about my kids every day, but I can’t even begin to imagine what Glenn, Maria, and the family are going through.

While they are confronting this crisis with hope and faith, they require additional assistance from the community to help pay for medical bills, food and other necessities.

Maria and Glenn have taken time off from work, but the bills keep rolling in. To help, this GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with whatever it needs to relieve some of the stress.

Please know that the family is eternally grateful for your support and will keep you posted.
