Anastasia Black Lenske , Firefighter & Ninja

This fundraiser was created by Peter Trozan on behalf of my niece, Anastasia.

Anastasia Tanya Black Lenske is an EMT/Firefighter and American Ninja Warrior competitor who just underwent the first of two surgeries designed to keep her from being wheelchair bound for the rest of her life. Due to congenital leg problems, her femur, tibia and fibula have rotated so much over the years that her knees are now facing each other, rather than facing forward. In addition, her hips are becoming affected due to the pressure from the femur rotation. This has caused her progressively greater and incapacitating pain, joint limitation and difficulty walking. To correct this problem, the surgeon has placed a “fixator” on her right leg. The fixator has 12 rods that go into her leg. Six of those rods are rotated a bit each day until the bone is returned to a correct position. After four months the surgery will be repeated on the left leg.

While this surgery is not uncommon for children, it is exceedingly rare for adults. Anastasia had to talk and meet with 38 surgeons before she finally found a surgeon skilled and comfortable enough to actually attempt this complex & life changing surgery.

Anastasia loves to live life to the fullest. Whether its skiing, rock climbing, helping to heal and save lives as an EMT/firefighter, fighting forest fires, or participating in the hit T.V. show American Ninja Warrior competition, Anastasia always gives 100% effort. She especially loved her Ninja Warrior training, auditioned and was chosen to participate in the American Ninja Warrior show. Unfortunately her section did not air. Nonetheless, she has continued to be an avid contender, competing in the Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association where she placed 3rd locally and 3rd regionally and was a wild card pick to compete in the 2017 National Finals in Dallas Texas.  Anastasia hopes to return someday to compete once again—stronger and healthier than ever!

All of her life Anastasia Black Lenske has wholeheartedly given of herself to help others:

*Playing music at churches, nursing homes and fundraisers for food banks and cancer centers
*Volunteering at the Sacred Heart Children’s Cancer wing in Spokane, WA
*Ski patrol volunteer at Lookout Pass Resort on the Washington/ Idaho border
*Being a Big Sister through the Big Brother/Big Sister program
*Working as a 911 dispatcher, EMT, and firefighter for Fireline Medics in Washington and California

After a lifetime of volunteering and helping others, Anastasia is now in need of some help herself. Following the first of her surgeries on June 20th, she now needs help from others to do simple things like going to the bathroom, taking a shower—or even walking.

As for finances, Anastasia is seeking to raise $20,000 to help cover her deductible, copays and coinsurance that are not covered by her insurance—plus items that her insurance will not cover at all, such as a special wheelchair, electric scooter and in-home care services. In addition, since Anastasia will be unable to work for at least a year following her series of surgeries, she is seeking $40,000 to make up for the loss of income while she recovers. Will you join Anastasia’s family and friends and help her get back to the high energy, active lifestyle that she loves and thrives on?

Please consider helping Anastasia with a generous donation, just as she has generously donated of her time in the past to help others. Your donation will help Anastasia to recover both financially and emotionally from this surgery. Even if you are unable to help financially, please repost and share. Sharing with others is a huge help! Who knows, you may yet run into Anastasia when a medical emergency sends an EMT or firefighter to your home. And if she recovers extremely well, you might see her on the American Ninja Warrior T.V. competition!

This metal cage with 12 rods going into her leg, is designed to slowly return her leg to a normal position. This will take four months, after which the same operation will be performed on the left leg.
Flying through the air as Anastasia trains to compete in American Ninja competition.
Left: A gritty gal is covered with soot and grit from fighting a forest fire. Right: Third place finish!
Spending time with her happy & supportive family.

We appreciate your generosity, thank you!
