Justin's Prosthetic Eye

Donation protected
Justin is my smart, charismatic, and intelligent 3-year-old nephew. We realized he had what appeared to be a tiny grey spot in the retina of his left his eye when the light hit it a certain way.  Eventually the spot grew and we took him to the doctor to do more investigating.
It was cancer. Retinoblastoma. It's a rare cancer but usually found in children ages 1-5. That news alone devastated us. As adults we understand the brutal reality behind certain cancers and we didn't want Justin to have to fight this kind of fight so soon in life.
Well, Justin gave his mother the best response and child could give a mother, "Mommy why are you crying? You aren't a baby!" Meaning, the childlike innocence was taking charge, and there was no presence of fear in his heart.

Today, February 2nd, Justin went into surgery at the wonderful Emory Hospital to remove the cancer filled eye. Dr. Hubbard and the Emory staff were awesome!   We are hoping he is now completely cancer free! Only time will tell.   Justin will have to wear a prosthetic eye from now on and our family needs help raising the funds to make sure we get this little soldier the best eye on this side of the planet! In order for us to do that, we will need your help.
No donation is too little. We thank you all in advance for your love, well wishes, and monetary donations.
Thank you,

Jasmine Momon

FYI ...
It's really important if you have kids around this age to be sure that the pediatrician examine their eyes closely on annual exams. This could have been found at a much earlier age with a thorough eye exam. It started as a tiny light (tip of a needle) seen intermittently when the light hit it from a certain angle and now it is a grey/silver spot that consumes the entire iris and eye. If you snap a picture and notice a white pin-light reflection or even notice a slight silver reflection on the iris when light or sunlight hits it just right, take them to be examined. He has surgery tomorrow to remove the cancer, I pray that it is localized and hasn't spread. He's in good hands physically and spiritually, I just wanted to put the message out there for other parents be aware of this condition.
