Amanpreet Singh Thind (35) is an active-duty Army Specialist who has always dedicated himself to serving others. On Saturday, November 22nd, he was hiking with fellow service members on the trails at Garrapata State Park in Big Sur, Monterey, CA, when a sudden and powerful wave swept Aman and two other soldiers out to sea. While the two soldiers with him were able to self-recover, tragically, Aman was carried away by the ocean. Our family is devastated, and we are doing everything in our power to continue the search and bring him home.
Aman is deeply loved by his family, friends, and fellow soldiers. The uncertainty and heartache of not knowing his whereabouts have been overwhelming, but our determination has not wavered. We are committed to searching until we bring him back where he belongs.
We are raising funds to support ongoing rescue and recovery efforts, including dive teams, drones, and helicopter services. Every donation—no matter the amount—helps us continue the search operations. Any excess funds will be donated to a nonprofit organization.
We are profoundly grateful for the Angel Recovery Dive Team, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, CAL Fire, Search & Rescue teams, California State Parks police, and all the volunteers who have been assisting us. ਅਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਠਿੰਡ (35) ਇੱਕ ਐਕਟਿਵ-ਡਿਊਟੀ ਆਰਮੀ ਸਪੈਸ਼ਲਿਸਟ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ, 22 ਨਵੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਂਟਰੇ, ਕੈਲੀਫ਼ੋਰਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਬਿਗ ਸੁਰ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਗਾਰਾਪਾਟਾ ਸਟੇਟ ਪਾਰਕ ਦੇ ਟ੍ਰੇਲਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਹਾਈਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਨੇ ਅਮਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੋ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਹਾ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂਕਿ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੈਨਿਕ ਖੁਦ ਬਚਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫਲ ਰਹੇ, ਬਦਕਿਸਮਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਹਾ ਲੈ ਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸਾਡਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਗਹਿਰੇ ਸੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਸੰਭਵ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।
ਅਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ, ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਾ ਜਾਣਣ ਦੀ ਬੇਚੈਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੀੜਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਾਡਾ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਕਦੇ ਡਿਗਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਤੱਕ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਾਂਗੇ।
