Please Help Amanda Jornov fight COVID-19!!

Donation protected
You know that friend or family member of yours that will drop EVERYTHING to do ANYTHING for you?

That's our Amanda.

Unfortunately, Amanda is in serious trouble. She is currently in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and fighting this virus hard, but her situation is scary and dire. Everyday is an emotional roller coaster for her family and friends.

The worst part of it, is that most of her family lives in NY and as you're all well aware, NO ONE CAN VISIT HER. She's alone in the hospital and we're trying our best to send her positive energy, healing vibes and A LOT of prayers.

The type of care she has needed (and will continue to need) goes well beyond what her insurance will cover and she will be stuck with astronomical bills once this is over and done with.

2 different Hospitals, 2 ICU's, EXTENDED STAYS, private nurses, doctors and specialists. And who knows what care she will need when she gets home. It all adds up and this bill is going to be massive when all is said and done.

When she arrived in LA Amanda started her own business, a bookkeeping service for creatives that have come to rely on her. She is self-employed, an entrepreneur who handles your business and hers with skill, dedication and personality. As you're aware, it's currently tax season, her busiest, but due to the virus she can’t earn.

The last thing we want is for her healing process to be hindered by the stress of her wondering, "how will I pay for all of this?".

This is where we can help.

This is where we give Amanda the support she has always given us and lift her up and help her heal.

PLEASE READ HER STORY BELOW AND CONSIDER DONATING.

It's for the best cause I can think of.

xoxo

I met Amanda 15 years ago, when we worked together at a bar on the Lower East side of NYC called, Nice Guy Eddie's. We became fast friends but soon after, I moved to LA. When she eventually moved out to LA, I was ecstatic because I had missed her so much and felt like our friendship was just getting started before I left.

We became very close, very fast. She is the person in my life that I talk to every day, multiple times a day.

She's THAT friend.

Amanda is the kind of person who makes her top priority YOUR well being. The, "How did that thing go you told me about a million years ago that I remembered to ask you about because I'm a stellar human" kind of person.

The woman that flies across the country MULTIPLE times a year to celebrate a family member's birthday, see a friend's show or meet her best friend in a random state. And she's never missed a Christmas with her family. Ever.

She's the kind of Angel that will watch your dog, spoil it rotten and then get it groomed because she just genuinely loves your dog and doesn't want you to have to be burdened with that.

She's the kind of friend that will watch your kid when you get a last minute audition in Santa Monica.  No questions asked.

She's the type of person that will clean your kitchen after you've made her dinner and even removes the ranges on your stove so she can clean underneath! Who does that???!

She is the best Auntie to her little Schmoo, who literally lights up her life and makes her so happy. Every time they Facetime or she receives a video message from her, she can't wait to show me.

She never shows up empty handed and is always the first to ask, What can I do? What can I bring? What do you need? She's a good Italian girl!!

She is the best partner in crime, always up for an adventure and you know a lot of laughing is bound to happen when she's involved.

Amanda is a BRIGHT LIGHT in this world who is always giving to others. Her smile is infectious, her wit razor sharp and she's a BEAUTIFUL person inside and out.

She is the epitome of LOVE.

If Amanda is in your world, YOU ARE LUCKY.

On Sunday, March 15th, Amanda woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose.

One week later, on Sunday, March 22nd, she went to the Cedars -Sinai ER in Los Angeles, because she was having difficulty breathing. They discovered that she had pneumonia, likely COVID as well and was given a breathing treatment and sent home to self isolate for two weeks.

Her friends and family were worried sick because she had a compromised immune system to begin with so who was going to have eyes on her and take care of her??

Her Uncle Lou quickly found Nurse Prissi, a patient advocate who specializes in healing patients at home. Prissi sent a private doctor to her, who assessed the situation and gave her an IV and steroids to help with her breathing. She was ok for a few days but on Thursday, March 26th, her fever spiked and her blood oxygen level got really low, so they had to call 911 for fear that she was getting sepsis.

They begged the ambulance to take her back to Cedars but they had to take her to the nearest hospital, which was Hollywood Presbyterian.

She was admitted to the ICU and put on an oxygen mask at 100% flow, which is the highest setting you can go before needing a ventilator. They were able to get her stable and eventually on Saturday, March 28th they were able to downgrade her to Critical Care, which was great news!

When Monday morning came around, her breathing difficulties increased and she was sent back to the ICU. She texted us that morning and asked that we send her prayers so she didn't need the ventilator. We all took deep breaths for her and then she sent me a picture of the oxygen level and was so happy that she didn't need it. But soon after that, her breathing got worse and they had to intubate her.

On Tuesday, they were able to lower the vent settings but her kidneys starting failing. Prissi was working tirelessly to get Amanda transferred to another hospital who could offer her better care.
There were treatments that they had to have access to (Proning/CRRT/ECMO) and the hospital just didn't have that level of care.

She was rejected from St. Johns and UCLA, so Cedars was her last hope.  We called in ALL the favors, and she got approved Wednesday evening to transfer to Cedar's! Things were looking up!

She made it to Cedars and they started the proning the next day.

On Thursday, April 2nd, her mother flew out and is staying at her place so she can be close by and take care of her when she gets home.

On Friday, April 3rd, the family had to hire a private nephrologist, as the hospital didn't provide one. She was able to get in there and start getting to the root of the kidney issues and be an advocate for Amanda. There was also discussion of needing approval for ECMO, in case she needed that as well. It's MAJOR but they came to the conclusion that it would be a last resort situation and so far she hasn't needed it!! THANK GOD!

On Saturday, April 4th, we started collectively sending prayers and positive energy her way. I went to her favorite place, the beach, and took deep breaths for her. I met her Mom at the hospital and we drove around the south tower playing music and talking to her in our respective cars. We got word that her oxygen levels were good and the PEEP setting on her Vent was even decreasing! I'm POSITIVE she heard us.

On Sunday, April 5th, her family sent out a prayer that was written by her late Grandfather, Louis Pierro, and we all said it at 2pm PST. What a powerful moment and I'm sure she felt that. More friend's joined us at Cedar's at 4:30pm to drive around and play music and send her good energy. That is until the security guard kicked us out.  She's gonna laugh when she hears that! haha

As of Sunday, April 5th, Amanda was stable, but she is still Covid positive, her lungs are fighting the Virus and she has been on the ventilator for 6 days.

On Sunday night, April 6th, we got word that they were reducing her sedative and plan to work with her on exercising her lungs when it's safe enough to wake her up. This will prepare her for eventually getting off the vent!

BUT THERE IS STILL A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF HER.

PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO ALLEVIATE THE COSTS FOR AMANDA AND HER FAMILY

If you can't contribute financially, please share this and spread the word.

Join us in saying a prayer at 2pm PST everyday.

Think of her at 4:30pm PST everyday while we drive around Cedars and play her favorite music and talk to her (in our cars, of course!) Go to the public Spotify playlist, #weloveamanda and add a song. We'll be playing it as we drive around the hospital :) Heck, join us if you're in LA!

Every night at 9pm,  play the song Two Step by Dave Matthews (her favorite) and look at the moon and think of her!

I believe there is power in collective, specifically intentioned thoughts.

It feels like everyday is two steps forward, one step back but she is definitely fighting.

And we will not stop fighting until she is home.

We won't let this Virus take our sweet, dear Amanda.

Not on our watch.
