Help Amanda fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected

Amanda is a newly married 37 year old woman from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

A beautiful soul both inside and out, Amanda is someone who makes a point of helping others wherever possible.   Donating her time to worthy causes such as Radio Lollipop, a radio station for kids at the local children's  hospital.

It's now our turn to assist Amanda.

In May 2015 Amanda received the shocking news she had a brain tumour.

Determined to fight, Amanda had surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.  Fortunately, her private health fund has assisted her in covering the cost to date.

In October 2015 Amanda received the devastating news that the tumour had grown.  Given further surgery is too risky and radiation and chemotherapy has not been effective, the only option left for Amanda in Australia is to try Avastin.  Whilst Avastin is federally funded for breast and colorectal cancers, it is not funded for all types of brain tumours, nor does her private medical insurance cover the entire cost.

Amanda has made the decision to fight this beast and we now seek your support.

As little or as much as you can donate towards her cause will help assist offsetting the cost of the treatment.   She starts treatment on Wednesday, 21 October.  We believe whatever money raised towards Amanda's fight - whether we raise a bit towards her goal, meet the goal, or surpass, will all help as medical costs aside, there's still day to day expenses and who wouldn't begrudge Amanda anything to help relieve her financial burden during this difficult time.

It's worthwhile mentioning here Amanda's husband, Damien.  Damien himself has battled his entire life with Cystic Fibrosis, culminating in a much appreciated lung transplant in 2012.

Once recovered, Damien gave back to the community and charity that supported him throughout his fight by raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity.

Little knowing a few years later he'd be in the position of supporting his wife during her fight.

All proceeds will be greatfully appreciated by Amanda, Damien and their extended family and friends who are supporting them through this dreadful heartbreaking time.

If you are unable to help financially, you can still support Amanda by sharing this site with your friends and leaving Amanda a message of encouragement.

Thank you.

Note: We are personal friends and family of Amanda's.  We have set this up on her behalf, but have linked it to her bank account. Any documentation you would like provided to verify we are more than happy to provide.    However, having known Amanda for nearly 20 years, we're confident that once this page gets up off the ground and her other friends and family are aware of its existence, their support and messages left here will prove what a wonderful, caring, loving, beautiful person Amanda truly is and how strong and hard she has fought thus far.   She is a very proud person who doesn't realise how loved and cherished she is and that we'll always do whatever we can to support her.  Let's come together and prove how much that is the case.
