Each season, the Web.com Tour visits in excess of 25 cities, with PGA TOUR hopefuls chasing a lifelong dream of contending on golf’s biggest stage. The journey can be lucrative, but it can also be lonely, as the individualistic nature of the sport allows for 20- and 30-somethings to travel from town to town with only the occasional visit from family or friends.
For a number of players, their road family becomes what is affectionately known as The Truck.
At every Web.com Tour event, The Truck is the equivalent of ground zero, with a host of PGA TOUR staff members and volunteers serving as the heartbeat of the tournament, from logistics to operations to scoring and oftentimes to a sounding board for stories about putters gone awry.
On Friday, July 15, 2016, The Truck lost one of its own.
Dennis ‘Zink’ Zinkon, who assisted the Web.com Tour in all facets of operations, passed away from a pulmonary embolism. He was 55.
To those who knew Zink, he was a familiar face each week, often greeting players and complete strangers with his unique smile and understanding of the life professional golfers lead.
In memory and honor of Zink, we are raising funds to give back to two key organizations:
The National Blood Clot Alliance (NBCA)
Wolfson Children's Hospital located in Jacksonville, FL
Thank you for helping us honor his memory.
