Alpha Sigma Phi is a Fraternity at Appalachian State University located in Boone, North Carolina. Every year as Christmas approaches, we like to recognize that not every child has a happy holiday season. Watauga County is stricken with poverty, as 1 in 3 people live below the poverty line. With this in mind, we like to do our part to ensure as many children possible have a happy holiday season. 

Christmas for the Kids is our annual event that raises money to buy Christmas gifts for several of the students of Hardin Park Elementary School here in Boone. These families have faced multiple challenges financially, yet the children remain as focused and dedicated as possible. It is difficult for these families to provide extra around the holidays, and that is where we like to step in. 

This year we will raise money up until November 30th, 2015. After fundraising ends, we take the kids on a shopping spree, buying clothes needed for the winter, and a few extra toys for fun. The next day we treat the families to a catered dinner, and officially give the kids their presents.
