Allen's Angels

Alyssa and Ade Allen welcomed their twins Kyler and Hadley by emergency c-section 2 1/2 months early at around 29 weeks on May 5th 2015. Alyssa had not been feeling good and was told to just relax. Finally she went to the hospital because she was in a lot of pain and learned that she was already several centimeters dialated. The babies heart rates kept dropping too low and had they not been delivered by c-section, Alyssa and Ade would have lost 1 or both of their twins. As if that wasn't frightening enough, they  learned after the babies were born that Hadley had an infection in her umbilical cord . The cord was also tied in a knot, a very rare thing to happen, and could have ended in tragedy had Alyssa not delivered early.  With all that happening Alyssa started to have complications as well. 4 days after delivering her twins, Alyssa had to have a hematoma the size of a baby removed from her abdomen.  After having the c-section and then reopening the c-secion to have the hematoma removed 4 days later, Alyssa developed another hematoma.  The doctors decided not to remove this one as it was not as big as the first. Then Alyssas c-section incision didn't heal correctly, so a wound vac was placed for 7 weeks to help in the healing process. All of this done to a mother who just delivered twins at 29 weeks and needed to be in the NICU everyday.  Both babies seemed to be doing well in the beginning, but around 1 month, Kyler could not seem to put on any weight. Around June 20th Kyler began throwing up blood. No one was sure where it was coming from or what was causing it. He lost so much blood that he needed a blood transfusion. They stopped his feeds and ran some tests but everything was coming back fine. So they let him start eating again but unfortunatly he continued to throw up this time with no blood.  He continued to lose weight and his skin was haning off his bones at this point due to the lost weight and muscle mass. On July 7th Kyler was transfered to Childrens hospital in Omaha.  Childrens started him on iv nutrition and he finally started to gain weight. He has been on continuous feed for 2 weeks and has gone thru many more tests and a scope.  At this time the only confirmed diagnosis is "failure to thrive" and GERD. The Allen's are still awaiting some test results and basically just have to play the waiting game. They are hopeful that some much needed answers will come soon and Kyler will finally be on the mend. He has a very long road of recovery ahead but with our help and the help of the wonderful staff at Childrens, I think we can make this stressful time better for this family. This go fund me page is set up to raise money for the rising unforeseen expenses associated with Alyssa being out of work due to not only her complications but also taking care of Hadley and Harper (their 3 year old daughter) at home and going to Omaha to see Kyler in the NICU everyday. She can't return to work for quite sometime and I think as friends and family and as a community we can rally together and help this family with expenses. Ade and Alyssa, the wonderful parents they are, need to be worried about the most important things right now which are their 3 children, not how they are going to pay for things while Alyssa is out of work. This is a very special family and one who is truly deserving of an act of kindness. Help us support them and their little miracle babies!!! Just remember every donation helps :) God bless!
