Hi, my name is Jerome and I am raising funds for my dog Aliss, an 11-years old dachshund. Here is her story...


Aliss is an active and lovely dachshund who’s been part of my life since she is a baby. She’s my partner in crime, my best friend and the love of my life.


On July 11 2021, all of a sudden, she started having difficulty to walk and the situation escalated quickly. In only 48 hours, her back legs paralyzed completely until she couldn’t walk anymore.


Panicked, I took her to the veterinarian where she had to go through a serie of tests (blood test, radiography, CT-scan, MRI). They finally diagnosed a disc herniation in her spine, which caused the malfunction of her back legs. Thankfully, because I acted quickly, she still had sensation in her legs and a spine surgery would give her 95% chance of getting back to normal. But they had to operate right away!


I was in shock! She still has many good years to live and I couldn’t resign on letting her go or keeping her paralyzed for the rest of her life. She is and will always be my baby girl!


The tests, the hospitalization and the surgery would cost me over 10 000$ CAD and I didn't have this amount of money. But I would have done anything to keep her with me and give her what she needs to be back in shape. So I decided to go through anyway... I put it on an angel guardian’s credit card and would figure how to pay for it later, but my priority was on my dog. And I made the right choice, because the surgery was a success and they were able to fix the disc hiernation.


Aliss is now back at home. There is still a long way to go before she can run like she used to. It's the beginning of the rehabilitation process that can last up to 8 weeks, but at least she is with me and I am taking good care of her so she can recover as quickly as possible.


I also have to find a way to start reimbursing that debt now. I will go to the bank, trying to get a loan or a credit line to cover all the costs of the last few days. And because I have nothing to loose, I also created that GoFundMe. I hesitated before posting it because I don't want to ask for charity. I don't like asking for money. But some friends convinced me to give it a try. Maybe some people out there would be touched by Aliss's story and would decide to help me raise money by contributing themselves or sharing this page so more people can see it. I am not expecting to cover the total cost of the surgery, but any amount will help me reimburse the debt I now have.
