Ali's People to People Trip

Ali is a classic overachiever. She is involved in many activities in school including: orchestra where she plays the upright bass, jazz band where she plays the baritone sax, and band where she plays the alto saxophone, inklings (writing club). She is in 8th grade taking a couple of 9th grade level courses (French and Algebra). In the evenings/weekends she participates in travel level soccer where she plays goalie and defense field positions. She is also teaching herself the keyboard, guitar and flute!  Through all of this she is maintaining a straight A grade point average.

Ali has been nominated by a teacher to participate in a People to People Ambassadorship program. Once nominated, Ali had to interview for her position. But that's not it. She also has to participate in 12 hours of class study and pass online and written tests on the history, art and culture of each country she will visit prior to leaving. This is so much more than a vacation!

She is raising money to go on a European trip through the People to People Ambassador program.  We are entering the second full year of fundraising and hope to successfully send her during the summer of 2016.  She is helping with the fundraising efforts. We are making bracelets and other crafts to sell at local farmer's markets and craft shows and managed to raise almost $3,000 last season.  As awesome as that is, it's not quite half way to our goal. 

As with most opportunities, this trip isn't cheap. The trip is all inclusive (including travel fees and such), which makes it a great value and the experiences she will come away with will be absolutely priceless.
