Help me celebrate Alex with a group gift!
Alex is turning 50 this year, and he has never had a significant birthday celebration, so let's create one that will make up for all the years he spent his birthday on duty either serving our country overseas in the military or working to make LA safer as a detective with LAPD (several of you can relate, thank you for your service).
Most of you know, he doesn't ask for anything. In fact he offers his time and talents to others no matter the hour of day or the cost. He usually builds most everything instead of paying for things he knows he can create. This year, I would like to give him something from all of us that he needs and cannot either afford or is unable to build, and I hope you will join in making a contribution to his 50th birthday gift.
As most of you know, he is passionate about aviation and not only loves to pilot a variety of planes but also enjoys maintaining them. Technology continues to be upgraded and old technology becomes obsolete.....no difference with aviation. Alex needs to get up with the times and put an IFR-Approach capable GPS in his plane. So I am looking to give him an IFR approach GPS basic model (perhaps the Garman GPS 155xl) or something similar (suggestions are welcomed). He is also in need of an Emergency Locator Transmitter for his plane. For those who are not familiar with the importance of this piece of equipment, it transmits distress signals and helps to mobilize ground searches immediately.
Depending on funds, I hope to be able to give him one of these gifts from all of us at his Surprise Birthday Celebration (total amount of goal includes both). Please contribute what you can.
Thank you for helping me celebrate a man who serves his country with pride, high standards, unending dedication and a sense of humor and is the definition of a true friend, brother, uncle and life partner. OK, so I get a little mushy when I drink red wine!
Thank you for helping to make his birthday one that he will never forget!!
