Alex's Pilgrimage to Lichfield Cathedral

My name is Alex and I am 17 years old. I've been through a lot in my life but the one place that has really helped me is my local church. Christ Church in Little Drayton, Shropshire.

From the moment I walked through the door they've welcomed me and given me a real sense of belonging and worth. It's only a small congregation, but the love that comes from these amazing people, the sense of peace and the support I get in growing my relationship with God is incredible.

I really want to be able to give something back to the church. It's such an essential place to the local community for christenings, weddings and funerals, and I'd love to be able to raise it's profile a bit to get more people coming in to share in the life of the church.

As with many churches these days, there is always a need for money to keep the building in good repair. There is a big crack in our tower and many other jobs that need doing to keep the church going for future generations.

With that in mind, I've decided to walk from Christ Church in Little Drayton to Lichfield Cathedral this August. For myself, I'm making this as a pilgrimage to grow my relationship with God, but I'd like to use it as an opportunity to raise money to help the church too.

It's a total distance of 37 miles. I will be leaving Christ Church on the morning of Friday 23rd August with the aim of arriving at Lichfield Cathedral in time for the services on Sunday morning.
