As you know, my best friend Lexi was recently diagnosed with breast cancer at the shocking age of 26 after finding a lump in her breast. Triple positive invasive ductal carcinoma, stage 1B. She just finished undergoing fertility treatment to freeze eggs, and is currently undergoing six rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by a full mastectomy, and then possibly radiation, reconstruction, and continued immunotherapy, so she has quite the road ahead of her.
Lexi expressed to me that a ton of people have reached out asking how they can help, but they don’t know how.
Since Lexi has assistance for her medical appointments and transportation, and her appetite is subpar due to chemo, I figured the best way to help Lexi would be to help relieve her of some of the sudden financial burden that cancer brings, especially in your 20s. Thankfully, she has insurance and a max out of pocket, but the sudden influx of back to back bills for surgeries, chemo, and appointments is a lot and continues to pile on until her max out of pocket is reached, combined with her income taking a hit soon as well. She is moving back home with her mom in April to help with living expenses.
This GoFundMe is for anyone who feels they want to help but are unsure how. Thank you for considering donating to her journey as a future breast cancer survivor
