Funeral services for Alejandro “Big Al” Donley

Edited to add: I want to thank each and every person that has donated for Alex, we are all beyond grateful. Any money left over will be directly given to Alex’s son. We are so grateful for all of the love and support.

I was lucky enough to be Alex’s cousin. In his 25 years of life he touched many hearts. Especially mine, I can say I have never witnessed someone love as much as he did. He expressed his love for others in ways I will never forget. It was his simple actions of simply walking everyone to their cars to make sure they would be safe when they left. He wanted to make connections with all of his family. His life wasn’t easy, but his smile was always so big. From the moment I was born, I had him and Frankie as my built in best friends. Growing up our family was as close as can be. We spent every birthday, holiday, and every Sunday at our Grandparent’s house. Alex was always the protector. He always made sure I was doing okay and how I was doing. He was always attentive to his family. Alex would do anything for anyone in need. He was always a call away and just someone you could talk to. He loved so hard. He will always be a huge piece of our family. If there is one thing that any of us can take from Alex it is to lead with love. Love those that you have, hug them, call them because you don’t know when it will be the last time you will have them.

I am honored to be called Alex’s little brother. Alex would always let me sleep in his bed as a kid because I was scared to sleep alone. Alex was the one who taught me not to fear anything in this life. We taught each other so many lessons, but the one lesson Alex taught me was to always love unconditionally and that is how he lived his life. Alex could walk in any room and light the room up with his smile alone. He was my protector, wherever we’d go he was my bodyguard. He was my hype man, my ride or die, and best friend. Alex was so pure and in his words “I’ll never fake the funk for anyone.” He will be dearly missed. Hold your loved ones close and cherish the little moments because we never know when it’ll be our last moments together.
