Help Alejandro Aupart Walk again!

Donation protected

Hello everyone,

My name is Hillary Harvey I am 24 years old and just recently married and starting our family with our one-year-old little boy. Our wedding was on July 23rd, 2016 and was a flawless night besides one thing. Our best friend and groomsmen wasn’t there with us. Our wedding was in Carmel so we had to leave Friday July 22nd for the rehearsal dinner and to be there for the next day. We woke up Friday morning with a different feeling in our hearts then we had expected because we had news that our best friend and groomsmen, Alejandro Aupart, was in a motorcycle accident and was "never going to walk again." Well as you can imagine shock hit us when we go this news. We rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, California where he was brought. The moment I walked into the hospital room and saw him lying there tears rushed out of my eyes. He looked at me and said he was sorry he would not be able to make it to our wedding. The selfless person that he is made him think of ME and my now husband at a time that he was in agony with pain and uncertainty about his own future. With a broken shoulder blade, broken ribs, broken ankle, broken toe, road rash, and most of all broken back and paralysis from the waist down he didn’t know what to expect. It was only the beginning of a long journey ahead. We left the hospital to go to our wedding as his wish was for us to go and enjoy our big day.

Alejandro has three beautiful young boys that are his life just as he is theirs. He has been in John Muir now for just over a month and under gone surgery and working extremely hard in therapy to recover. Unfortunately, he was unemployed at the time leaving him without health insurance so he is soon to be discharged without getting the therapy he needs to walk again let alone even being fully healed from all his injuries. He is going to be given a hospital bed in his room that he rents in concord CA as he cannot lay in a normal bed yet. He is going to be having a team of friends and family try and help him with exercises and therapy at home. He cannot get a job yet to provide rent, help provide for his children, pay for a longer time in the hospital, and is scared for what his near future holds.

Now what I have forgotten to mention is that that first message we got saying he "would never walk again" was incorrect. Alejandro has proven doctors wrong and amazed his therapist at his determination and faith that has brought him so far. He has not even healed his injuries yet but is pushing through therapy knowing that his time there is running out. He has now shown great signs and can feel hot and cold and even feel some nerves firing off if he tries really hard to connect his brain to his legs. with the right therapy no doubt Alejandro is going to walk again. with his huge heart, faith, and determination he will do whatever it takes to get there whether it’s at home or in the hospital.

With that said the reason I am making this account is in effort to help my dear friend out in a time that he needs it just as I know he would do the same for me. I want to try and raise enough money to get him at least rent and food until he can get back on his feet and provide for himself again. As of now he is being released very soon and doesn’t know how he will provide rent to be allowed to stay in his room he rented in the past. If I can go above and beyond that I would like to raise money to get him the correct therapy and care to insure he can walk again, sooner than later. I know he can do it, doctors know he can do it, and he knows he can do it but not without the help and support from friends, family, and our community. Please help me help Alejandro get through this battle he is fighting! He has strong faith so we are not only asking for your donations but for your thoughts and prayers as well. Thank you!
