Help a Black trans man recover from car accident

The cover photo is me about 10 days after my 2nd surgery, happy to have my leg out of a cage and cast.
*EDIT: After talking with some loved ones about my needs in the long-term I decided to up my goal. If you would like to help me meet my stretch goal, it would make things easier for me beyond my most basic & immediate needs.

Hey, I'm Alec/Alex, a Black trans guy from Brooklyn. On Feb 27th, I was hit by a car and suffered multiple broken & shattered bones in my leg & ankle. After a bone-setting procedure & 2 surgeries, I'm home from the hospital and in recovery; including outpatient orthopedic and physical therapy visits. My injured leg can't bear weight until at least late June. My current mobility involves a walker or crutches, both on which I can go only short distances.

My medical leave at my job has been denied, despite the obvious injury. My last check was on March 25th and my appeal is pending. I don't know when payments will start again. Due to this accident, my savings will run out on May 1st and this GoFundMe would support me after that until my pay is reinstated.
While I'm relieved to be back home, I live alone and two boroughs away from my support network. Your donations would help me pay just the necessities until I'm back on my feet: my bills, medication fees, copays, groceries, medical equipment costs, and transportation to and from appointments. The insurance of the car that hit me refuses to provide any additional medical funding. This is why I can't afford to receive at-home physical therapy or in-patient rehab. Your support will help me make up for the inadequate coverage I have received from insurance.
Thank you
