Help Support My Move To Alaska
Hey y'all, my name is Lucas, and I'm raising money to cover the cost for my move to Alaska this summer.
I've been accepted to a non-profit resident teaching artist program called The Artist Year through AmeriCorps. This position will have me driving from Lancaster, Pennsylvania to Sitka, Alaska. On the way there, both my brother and I will be participating in a one-week residency in Wisconsin.
I will add that unfortunately due to the cuts to Americorps by this administration, my position is kind of in limbo until they can secure funding. Both they and I are hopeful however that funds will be secured via a lawsuit.
The tough part is the cost of the residency in Wisconsin, food and accommodations on the road, the ferry to Sitka, and then the flight for my brother to come home is quite a lot. I will definitely break down some of the finite costs of the journey here on the page so you can see where the money is going.
Residency in Wisconsin: 800$ (covers my brother and I)
Ferry to Sitka: 634$
Gas: 500$ (rough estimate. 3700 miles. 12 tanks of gas)
Accomodations: 500$ (not sure exactly how much I need for this, but for food and cheap motels)
Flight back to Delaware for my brother: 500-700$
The rest of the budget is cushioning the move for me, buying any supplies I need up there to get settled in.
If you've made it this far, words cannot state my gratitude. And if you're able to help me out either with money or just by sharing, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
