Dear Friends and Supporters,
My name is Robert Mitchell Morrell, a proud 7-year veteran of the US Armed Forces (Army: 1973-1975, Navy: 1980-1984). While I didn't serve directly in Vietnam, I dedicated myself to serving my country during that conflict, and after.. Now, at 70 years old, I'm facing health challenges and financial setbacks that make it impossible to meet my bills. I am currently under treatment with the VA r geripsychiatry team to treat my memory issues.
Unfortunately, I lost my job last February due to struggles with poor memory. I also suffer from COPD and pain issues with my feet for which I am receiving treatment from the Veterans Administration. These issues, combined with my age make it impossible for me to find employment and as a result we are way late on most our bills. We are a month behind on our rent and facing the possibility of eviction.
Despite my best efforts to save for the future, my savings have been meager and my financial situation took a hit when I had to cash out my 401K savings to make ends meet. After taxes and loan repayment, I was left with only $4688 which is now all gone. To make matters worse, my car was recently totaled in an accident, forcing me to use the remaining funds to purchase another vehicle. I have no other assets.
As a veteran living on Social Security as my sole source of income. I am facing significant financial strain. I am humbled that, after a lifetime of working I am reduced to having to ask for help, and I pray that you believe that those of us who have served our country with honor and dedication can rely on your support in return.
I am hoping that this GoFundMe campaign will provide me with the financial assistance I urgently need. Your generous contributions will go towards covering my medical expenses, daily living costs, and essential needs, hoping to live with dignity. Your contributions, big or small, will directly help me afford essentials like medication, groceries, and housing – allowing me to live with dignity while I seek new ways to get back on my feet financially. I have received help from family and friends but those resources are tapped out and I have not received a donation in a month, leaving me penniless. The stress is almost incapacitating.
Every bit counts! Please consider donating and share my story with others. Thank you and God bless you.
Humbley, Robert M. Morrell
