Rex is not even 2 years old—he’s still just a baby. He came from Maui and has always loved the simple, beautiful things in life: running freely on the beach, playing in the sun, and being outside with me. That’s where he’s happiest—active, full of life, and by my side.

But everything changed on 3/12.

While under the care of a sitter through Rover, Rex got loose and was missing for 7 long, terrifying days. During that time, he was hit by a car.

For a week, I didn’t know where he was or if he was even alive. Those were the worst days of my life.

When we finally found him, he was injured, in pain, and scared. My happy, energetic boy could barely move.

Now, days later, Rex still hasn’t been able to receive the surgery he urgently needs—FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy)—to walk without pain again. Every day that passes, he’s still hurting. He doesn’t understand why he can’t run, why he can’t play, why everything feels different.

Watching him like this is absolutely heartbreaking.

Bringing him from Maui was already such a huge transition, but this was not the outcome ever expected. Aloha nui loa. Anything, even shares, helps.

We are doing everything we can. We’ve already put as much as possible on our credit cards, but between emergency care, surgery, medications, and the long road of rehabilitation ahead, we are overwhelmed.

Rex isn’t just a dog—he’s my best friend, my family, my whole world. We used to spend our days outside together, running and exploring. I just want to give him that life back. I want to see him run on the beach again. I want to see him happy and free from pain.
