Help someone get out of the depth and despair of addiction with sponsoring them to register in this life changing addiction recovery course that is now offered online. With the Coronavirus locking people in their homes, out of work, and losing loved ones the addiction relapse rate has skyrocketed along with addiction related deaths. There is no better time for someone seeking recovery to enroll in Yoga of Recovery with Durga Leela Between the Mat and the Meeting - Ayurveda for Our ‘Addictiveness’, however there is one major obstacle - financial struggles.
What we do know so far about addiction relapse rates during the Covid-19 Pandemic:
Typically, relapse rates for people with substance use disorders hover around 40 to 60 percent. It’s too early to say whether these rates have increased during the pandemic. However, here are a few statistics we do know so far:
Spikes in overdose-related deaths and emergency calls have been reported in localities across the US.
Alcohol sales increased 55 percent in the second-to-last week of March 2020, compared with the previous year.
A study by Well Being Trust and the American Academy of Family Physicians estimated up to 150,000 additional “deaths of despair” from drugs, alcohol, and suicide, linked to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, experts caution that people struggling with addiction during COVID-19 are especially vulnerable to relapse.
Every time Durga Leela, founder of Yoga of Recovery , announces a new program, she receives many e-mails from people who are suffering with addiction but cannot afford the course fee and are requesting a scholarship. Over the years, I have seen Durga give many scholarships but there is only so much she can do, now I am reaching out to the public to give what they can to help the suffering addict who is seeking recovery but cannot do it themselves.

My name is Shanna Dadisman and I am raising funds for 5 people (or more!) to be able to enroll in the upcoming Yoga of Recovery offering beginning this April 2021. Personally for me, finding Yoga of Recovery has changed my life and enhanced my recovery in ways I never imagined. My first experience with Yoga of Recovery was during my active heroin addiction when my parents were so desperate for me to get clean that they brought me to a classical yoga ashram for the Yoga of Recovery with Durga Leela 10-Day course that was offered at that time. What I can tell you from my experience is that even though I was not yet ready for recovery at that time, some big shifts in my life began to happen thanks to the teachings of Yoga of Recovery. One year later, when I finally checked myself into rehab, I knew exactly what was needed in my life to ensure that this was the last time I would need to raise my hand for the "24 Hour" Welcome chip in 12-Step rooms. What stuck with me from that first 10 days with Durga, is that even before completing rehab I needed to establish a meditation practice to strengthen my connection with my Higher Power, a regular yoga practice to strengthen my connection to the Self within me, and a healthy detoxifying diet according to Ayurveda to repair the damage of my body that came with years of addiction - all of this together with 12 Step programs was my recipe for success.
Following this recipe since I first entered the rooms has helped me overcome many of the obstacles that I see people with long-term sobriety struggling with on a daily basis. Throughout the years, I have overcome long term chronic pain, anxiety & anger issues, PTSD from being a survivor of sexual violence, coming off opiate-replacement therapy smoothly, nicotine addiction, sex and love addiction, and disordered eating habits - all using the suggestions of Yoga of Recovery along the way.

The 12-Week Yoga of Recovery with Durga Leela online course fee is $1200 per person, which is just a fraction of the cost of the average 28-Day stay at a rehab center.
We are seeking funds to give 5 people suffering with addiction a full scholarship - or more! But that depends on YOU! Every little bit helps.
You might be asking yourself, "What is Yoga of Recovery?"
Yoga of Recovery with Durga Leela integrates the wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda with modern recovery ideas and the tools of 12-Step recovery. Combining the Yogic psychology of how to deal with the mind and the Yogic philosophy of the Self with the practice of the principles of the 12-Steps, alongside an Ayurvedic lifestyle offers a sure path from self-destruction to Self-realization – one day at a time.
We are also continuing on with our fundraiser which raised enough funds for 5 students' admission to Durga's last course thanks to all of YOU! Let's see how many addicts seeking recovery we can help in this next round! Thank you for all of your support, one addict helping another. Yoga of Recovery with Durga
Between the Mat and the Meeting
Ayurveda for Our ‘Addictiveness’
April 21 - July 7, 2021
Embody health in recovery from all addictive disorders, (substances, food/sugar and behaviors) through Ayurveda, framed in the most accessible, relatable and practical way. Address the needs and vulnerabilities that underlie these habits with pioneering look at our stress-response tendencies. We’ll look at our 'acting out' tendencies, and how physical practices and daily routines can widen the window of tolerance. We come to deeper self-understanding and self-regulation for resilience one day at a time.
Yoga of Recovery works with everyone whose lives have been affected by addiction, in themselves or loved ones - people who have sex addiction, eating disorders, codependents with no substance abuse, and others where substance abuse is present but it is not the primary presenting issue. The program is also open to anyone who wants to learn lifestyle and stress management skills.
Health and recovery from addiction and disease involve fully living in the wholeness that you are. By recognizing your innate strengths you can learn to revitalize your body’s systems rather than to depend on addictive, unhealthy behaviors. Build a strong foundation for living well, and learn about stress, digestion, sleep hygiene, and detoxification. Practice deep self-care and emotional regulation through simple Ayurvedic daily routines that you can practice at home.
The program is an integration of the philosophy and psychology of yoga and Ayurveda - offering many physical practices to allow us to embody our recovery pathway.
YoR BMM 12 week online session consists of:
1. Live zoom class once per week for 2 hours (Wednesday 4-6pm PST / 7-9pm EST; 4/21/21 - 7/7/21). Here we review, discuss and share about the week's class topic.
This is recorded for you to listen to at your own convenience if you are not able to make the live session.
2. Pre-recorded videos you can watch before we meet to review and discuss this topic in our live class. These are short, succinct videos that keep you connected to the teachings throughout the week & prepare for the live Zoom class. These videos are available to re-visit again and again for ONE FULL YEAR!
3. 2 YoR Recovery Meetings per week - one meeting format is an open, all-fellowship 12 step meeting; the other will be a book study (non-12 step). These are not recorded.
I personally just completed Durga Leela’s first online offering from September to December 2020, and for me, the 12-Week immersion was a much deeper experience than it has ever been in the past in-person 10 Day Yoga of Recovery programs, and it was the same for the other students in the class.
Here is some feedback from some of the other students:
"This was wonderful. Durga is a wealth of knowledge and experience, and she conveyed it all with such clarity and compassion. I've never experienced a training that aligned practical skills, Ayurveda, and spirituality so well. The format also worked very well - the balance of videos to in-person, and the duration and intervals of each, worked really well for my learning style."
"I’ve very much been enjoying Between the Mat and the Meeting. Implementing the suggested routines have really helped me feel grounded, balanced and peaceful. I’m very engaged and appreciative." T.L. female in early recovery
"A truly exceptional training. My favorite is how you went into such depth about the [yoga and Ayurveda perspective on] addiction and also how it shows up in Codependency. I definitely have a more in depth personal understanding of how they work." Nicole R, Ayurvedic and Yoga Therapist
