Help Ad Astra Farms of Maryland

I'm Mac (Maura) Russell and I'm an urban microfarmer in expansion! As it exists today, Ad Astra Farms is a small urban farm serving two counties in Maryland in the DC Metro Area. I operate a small Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscription service and sell at farmers markets. I am also a registered food donor with the Prince George's County Food Equity Council and Food Rescue organizations.

I'm excited to share that I just signed a lease to scale up from one-third of an acre to nearly 3 acres of land. I'm super excited and grateful for this opportunity!

Now that I have a significantly larger space to grow, I need to implement different growing practices using heavier machinery and equipment than I have used. This takes resources and is where I'm asking for your help.

Your donation will help me get my new land ready for planting by:

1. Completing soil and water tests

2. Feeding the soil with amendments

3. Turning the land over and creating vegetable beds (requires machinery)

4. Purchasing seed and supplies

5. Building a high-tunnel to allow me to grow into the winter months
