Accident in Mykonos / Seeking Aid for Injuries
Donation protected
On Monday July 1, 2019 my friend and I were riding on a quad in Greece. The quads breaks failed to stop as we were ascending down a hill and ran into a stone barrier. I have been hospitalized after the breaks faulted in Myknos, Greece. I obtained three broken ribs and a liver contusion. My friend Duska has five broken ribs, a punctured lung and a fractured pelvis. Due to Greece’s deficit the hospital care did not provide the adequate care and medicine to us. The hospital care in Myknos did not have the technology to ensure our health and safety would be provided as our conditions require 24/7 support. We were then transported to a hospital in Athens, Greece where we were being monitored. The air ambulance flight was very costly but we had to do what is best for our health. We contacted the Embassy and after two days of being lost in translation and being in agonizing pain they arrive. We were getting worse. None of our cuts were cleaned or looked at. We were very weary about the infections that could occur. Very few nurses understand English here and are not responsive to our requests and needs. The hospital only cares about money and we were not shown the translated itemized bill an hour prior before being released from the hospital. The doctors and nurses do not take accountability when we ask to see our X-ray scans, CAT scans and blood work results. Duska is a nurse and is shocked by the careless help that we have received.
Currently we are trying to find a way out of the hospital in Athens and back to the US. I am seeking medical aid for the transportation fees, CAT scans and medical visits soon to follow along with helping Duska with her injuries and future doctor visits. Thank you for all of your help, thoughts and prayers!!! Please share the story.
