To our supporters and those who support the quest for knowledge,
Thank you for considering a donation to The Academy of 21st Century Learning’s Odyssey of the Mind team! We are excited to represent Solano County at The Odyssey of the Mind Worlds Finals in May, as we compete against more than 800 teams from across the world! We need your help.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative competition that helps students develop skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, math, language arts, science, writing, engineering, and the performing arts. To learn more, visit http://www.odysseyofthemind.com.
This year, the Division 1 team from The Academy of 21st Century Learning chose to solve the Vehicle Problem, in which they built a pirate-themed vehicle with a unique propulsion system. Their budget was $145. The Ice Cream Pirates built a ship to overcome the evil Kraken Dazs as it journeyed across the “seven C’s” of creativity, courage, chocolate sauce, and more!
The Division 2 team chose the Structure Problem. They built a balsa wood structure that could weigh no more than 15 grams and must stand at least 8 inches tall. The goal of the structure was to hold hundreds of pounds of pressure. The Academy’s structure is currently able to sustain 325 pounds. The team is working towards 500 pounds! They also wrote and performed a skit known as the Perfectly-Imperfect Magicians, a know-it-all cowboy magician and her over-qualified assistant!
For our teams to attend, we will need $10,000 for room and board, $3,000 to ship our props and costumes to Michigan, $5,000 per team for airfare, totaling $18,000!
This is where you can help! We are seeking sponsors to make donations to help offset the cost of attending the World Finals. Sponsors will be featured on the back of our competition t-shirts, which will be worn throughout the competition. All donations are tax-deductible. Our tax-exempt ID number is 84-1760393.

We deeply appreciate any assistance. We hope you can help provide your financial support and help our team get to Michigan State University for the World Finals competition. Your donation goes a long way towards providing these talented students with a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase their talents, meet students from other countries, tour a major university, and proudly represent Solano County and Northern California!
Thank you again for your time and consideration!
