April 10, 2025: “They think they found something.”

April 11, 2025: “We think it may be a midline glioma. We need to transfer you to Children’s Hospital.”

April 15, 2025: Abigail underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor in the posterior of the brain.

April 20, 2025: Abigail opened her eyes for the first time following surgery.

April 22, 2025: A follow up MRI noted Abigail had suffered a stroke.

May 2, 2025: We started rehab at National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC to relearn how to walk, talk, eat, play, ect.

May 5, 2025: Abigail said her first word, “Mom.”

May 14, 2025: Received the biopsy results - the tumor was non cancerous!

June 30, 2025: United Healthcare is refusing to pay for any additional days of rehabilitation. Her team of doctor’s and therapists anticipates her discharge date of August 20th. United Healthcare has decided they know best and coverage is halted as of June 30th.

Abigail has made tremendous progress in rehab. She can feed herself, talk, and sit on the floor unassisted. We are continuing to work on strengthening these skills and reach our big goal of walking again.

⭐️What do you want from me, Jackie? ⭐️

I need your help to shed light on Abigail’s case. We hear about the issues with our healthcare system, but you never truly understand it until you are in a situation where your loved one needs care, and your insurance company is saying, “Sorry, there is nothing we can do.”

Any money raised will go towards any days not covered during the lapse in coverage between our commercial insurance and Medicaid’s start date, as well as medical bills incurred since April 2025.

If you are unable to donate, I would love it if you could share this post and tag United Healthcare.
The more we can shine the light on Abigail’s case, the better!

This post is a reminder that against all odds, we can do hard things.
