American Wildlife Refuge

The American Wildlife Refuge is a small, private, all-volunteer nonprofit organization; not financially supported by any government or local entities.

We rescue 100-200 eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, herons and vultures each year. Unfortunately, 90% of our birds are unintentionally injured by automobiles. While they are with us, AWR provides all the needed services – including pre-release therapy.

100% of the funds we receive are spent on animal food, veterinarian care, habitat construction and maintenance, rescue vehicle insurance, rescue vehicle gas and repairs, office expenses, and telephone expenses.

AWR also brings our live-bird nature and other educational shows to thousands of schools and other arenas each year. This is done to increase the public's awareness of raptors, dangers they face, and what can be done to keep them safe.

Our ultimate mission is saving these majestic beings, and inspiring the next generation to continue our work.

While donations obtained at such presentations help with a large portion of our donations per year, we continue to fall just short of our goals.

We appreciate all donations: large or small.

Thanks for all your help.
