Hello Friends!

We have come such a long way since October 31, 2025 when Ali suffered a second stroke. A second stroke is not simply a repeat of the first. The brain has already been through trauma. Recovery is slower. The therapy requirements are greater. And the window for meaningful progress — the window we are fighting to keep open — depends entirely on consistency of care, stability of environment, and the absence of the financial stress that makes healing nearly impossible.

Many of you know that Ali was living alone at the time of his most recent stroke. I was able to get him the best available care at the highest rated inpatient rehabilitative facility in our area--The Shepherd Center. When he was discharged recently I took on the responsibility of primary caregiver for Ali with the responsibility of making sure that he continues to progress toward a full recovery in an environment where has complete autonomy to direct his own care--not a nursing facility.

Ali cannot work right now. He is focused, every single day, on the work of getting better. Physical therapy. Occupational therapy. Speech therapy. Rest. Routine. The small, unglamorous, profoundly important work of rebuilding.
