Hi, my name is Dr. Edwin Panford-Quainoo, and I need your help to make ‘The Last Prescription’, a documentary about the growing global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
As a pharmacist and Global Health PhD, I have witnessed the devastating impact of antimicrobial resistance firsthand. Early in my career, I watched a patient die from an infection that no antibiotic could treat. Years later, I saw it happen again. Those experiences stayed with me and sparked a search for answers.
The Last Prescription follows my journey across Ghana and the UK as I explore one of the greatest health challenges of our time: a future where common infections become deadly and routine medical procedures carry growing risks. Through the stories of patients, pharmacists, and communities, the film reveals the human impact of a crisis that affects us all.
This documentary can only be made with your support. Every contribution will help us film, produce, and share this urgent story with audiences around the world. Together, we can raise awareness of AMR and inspire action before it is too late.
I am both a pharmacist and a researcher, and for many years I have worked closely with patients, healthcare professionals, and communities.
Through this work, I have seen how important it is to connect scientific knowledge with the realities of everyday life.
This film is my way of doing that.
It brings together years of research and real experiences to tell a story that people everywhere can understand.
Because antimicrobial resistance is not just about bacteria or medicine.
At its heart, it is about people, the choices they make, and the care they give to those they love.
