Kasey is a 4 year old who was diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease Type 3A days before her 1st birthday. Kasey has taken all that GSD has thrown at her like a champ. Unfortunately her lab (blood) work, growth over the past year, and decreased muscle strength has caused her doctors to bring her in for a 2nd liver transplant evaluation.
During the transplant evaluation on March 22nd and March 23rd we had have the opportunity to meet with all the medical staff that will be involved with Kasey's transplant (Surgeons, Doctors, Specialists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Psychologist, etc...)
On April 8, 2016 we got the call that Kasey will be put on the list for liver transplantation, we were also notified that Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta ~ Egleston is listed as an out of network facility for liver transplant. They informed us that Aetna has approved the transplant BUT they will only cover 50% of ALL Transplant services (Pre/Post Transplant). The total cost for Liver transplant can total approx. $560,000
